Muddy Fox was once one of mountain biking’s great innovators. Over time, however, a race to the bottom on price and quality had eroded much of what made the brand special.
The Icarus was my attempt to put it back on the map.
Designed around a high single-pivot suspension system, it was intended to be straightforward to maintain, affordable to produce and, above all, genuinely capable on the trail.
The swingarm incorporated a distinctive connecting element aligned with the seat tube, creating a continuous visual line through the frame. It gave the bike a clean, flowing silhouette while making the suspension layout part of its identity.
Sadly, the Icarus never made it beyond the drawing board.
Who knows what might have happened if it had.
